Meet Our Veterinarians
A native Californian, Dr. Morgan Cavanaugh graduated with honors from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1993 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. He was accepted into the Ivy League Veterinary program at University of Pennsylvania and graduated cum laude in 1998. After graduation he returned to California to complete a one year Surgery internship at California Animal Hospital with emphasis on Emergency Medicine and Critical Care.
In 1999, Dr. Cavanaugh began working as a full-time associate with the Animal Emergency Centre in Los Angeles. After falling in love with the patients and veterinary practice, he became an owner of the rapidly growing emergency hospital in 2001. Under his leadership the Animal Emergency Centre has continued to expand and grow. In 2005 the emergency veterinary hospital was relocated to a brand new modern facility which offers the latest in cutting edge technology for emergency and critical care. I
In addition to being a veterinarian, His hobbies include surfing, scuba diving and traveling.
Dr. Juli White earned her Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1992. She graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis in 1997. After graduation she completed a one year formal internship at Alameda East Veterinary Hospital in Denver, Colorado. This internship included additional training in Internal Medicine, Surgery and Radiology with a special emphasis on Emergency Veterinary Medicine and Critical Care.
For two years after her internship, Dr. White practiced Emergency Medicine full time at Veterinary Specialists of Kansas City in Overland Park, Kansas. These two years of practice allowed her to continue her training in an informal setting by working side by side with board-certified specialists in Internal Medicine. Surgery, Dermatology, Opthalmology, and Radiology.
Since July of 2000, Dr. White has been a full time associate with the Animal Emergency Centre in Los Angeles. In 2004 she expanded her involvement in the practice by becoming Staff Manager. She loves the excitement of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine and the pets and people that she gets to interact with on a nightly basis.
Dr. Aimee Hocutt graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Veterinary Medicine in 2006. She then went on to complete a small animal medicine and surgery rotating internship at the Animal Surgical and Emergency Center in West L.A. After completion of her internship, she spent the next few years practicing at a large emergency clinic in the South Bay area. She was honored to join the AEC family in 2010. In her spare time, Dr. Hocutt enjoys spending time with her family (including her 4 cats), watching movies and bicycling along the beach.
Dr. Sharon Torrisi
Dr. Sharon Torrisi attended Cornell University's School of Veterinary Medicine. The following year she completed an internship in medicine and surgery at The Animal Medical Center in NYC. She has practiced veterinary medicine in Southern California for the past 19 years and during that time she has worked alongside internal medicine and critical care specialists. In addition, Dr. Torrisi is a certified veterinary acupuncturist.
Dr. Eleanor Lan graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 1998 with a BA in Biology. Afterwards, she completed an MBA in International Management at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. After working for a few years in the corporate world, Dr. Lan decided that her heart still lied with her first love, veterinary medicine, and she moved to San Francisco to pursue her dream. She graduated from the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis in 2008. After graduation, Dr. Lan completed a formal one-year rotating internship at Animal Specialty Group in Glendale, California. During her internship, she received advanced training with board-certified specialists in Internal Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Oncology, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. During this time, she became particularly interested in Emergency Medicine and Surgery and since then has been a staff veterinarian at Animal Emergency Centre since December 2009. Dr. Lan is a native of Los Angeles but has spent time living in Taiwan, Shanghai, Tokyo, and San Francisco. In her free time, she can be found out and about town with her Golden Retriever, Beauregard. Her hobbies include, SCUBA diving, horseback riding, international traveling, and cooking.
